Hi, Today I got someone special who already earned over $5000 from Udemy he is Joe Buchmann, he is one the creator on Udemy
Here, I am going to share with you the screenshot which will definitely inspired you, here is it-
• Tell us something about yourself
○ My main goals in life are to be happy, and to spread happiness to others.
• How you have started with Udemy
○ I had taken several Udemy courses in the past. In reassessing what I wanted to do in life, I realized that I could probably share my knowledge in the same way on Udemy. I use to work for a corporation where I wasn’t very happy. Doing this seemed like a way out, so I went for it.
• What motivates you to Create Course
○ I want to create courses that help other people achieve their goals. I want to make the topics I know more accessible, and not seem scary to learn.
• What is Your Education background
○ I have an AA degree in multimedia and a BAS degree in video game design and production. In the past 15 years or so, I have gained a good amount experience climbing the corporate ladder in web/graphic design, digital marketing, ecommerce and business management. I left the corporate world to do my own thing teaching some of that knowledge and be closer to family and friends.
• How you feel after seeing your first sell on Udemy
○ The same as anyone, very excited. The first sale is validation, and motivates you to continue.
• How much total time you have invested for reaching here
○ That’s a tough one. Each course demands an up front time investment for creation, then a smaller ongoing commitment to maintaining and answering questions. I would say I’ve probably invested somewhere between 120 and 150 hours.
• What is your next goal on Udemy
○ To create another course that does as well as my current best seller.
• How anyone can start earning from udemy
○ By finding the niche in which you have the most knowledge to share, plotting out how you can teach it, and just start building a course. The first course should be on a topic you are intimately familiar and comfortable with. Do not just build something that you think will sell best.
○ An important part of it is making sure that you actually want to teach people. This isn’t an easy money avenue. It does take work and commitment. If you’re just looking to make a quick buck, this likely won’t work well for you. However, if you really want to share knowledge and are committed to doing it in the best way possible, you can succeed.
• Share your big mistakes in this journey that’s why you did not reach such higher level like 100,000 mark [We wish you will soon].
○ I’m not sure about mistakes specifically. I look at everything as a learning opportunity. I haven’t reached a higher level because I don’t teach full time. I have another business that currently demands most of my time as I try to build it.
○ One good lesson, though, is to listen to the Udemy staff when they give you suggestions. With my first course, they gave me some suggestions that I did not follow. I felt like I knew a better way and it seemed like more work. Later on, I did implement the tactics that they suggested and now my courses are far better because of it.
○ Another lesson I learned was to submit test videos before recording a lot. I did my entire first course before submitting, only to find out that I needed to work on my audio quality.
○ Maybe another thing is how long I’ve waited between courses. It would definitely be good for me to get more courses up in a shorter period of time.
○ I’m still making mistakes and learning all the time. Just about every video I make shows me something new. You just need to be open to trying things in new and better ways.
• Your ten checkpoints before creating course on Udemy
○ I don’t have ten checkpoints prior to building a course, but these are the steps I follow when creating a course:
1. Choose a topic
2. Check to see how many courses are already done on the topic
3. Build a course outline
4. Write a script based on the course outline
5. Record and submit a test video to Udemy
6. Record audio from the script
7. Record videos based on the recorded audio
8. Edit videos
9. Fill in Udemy info (Course Goals, Curriculum, etc.) and upload videos
10. Submit for approval
• What are your suggestions for beginners for reaching first $1000 on Udemy
○ Don’t get discouraged if your first course doesn’t work out. Look at it as a learning experience and create another.
○ Listen to feedback from students and make any necessary adjustments to your course.
○ Promptly respond to students’ questions as best as you can. Be honest if you don’t have an answer.
○ Make sure to have some ‘talking head’ videos so students can see who you are. People like to know the face behind the voice.
• Where do you live share any tourist attraction [if you have photo with you then please share]
○ I live in Idaho. There’s not a lot of tourist attractions around here. We do a lot of outdoor things like hiking, skiing, camping, etc. I’ll see if I have a pic of one of those.
